The Line Begins To Blur leak appears to be official. It leaked into the internet less than a day after The Hand That Feeds was leaked. THTF is a very low-quality file; it is a copy of a copy that was copied off the radio, then converted to mp3. Also, THTF is a distinct departure from traditional Nine Inch Nails: its poppy beat and catchy hook is unmistakably meant to generate sales. TLBTB is 320kb, cd quality rip. Although the chorus is mastered, the rest of the song, minus the bass distortion, appears to be a live studio feed. This matches what we expect to hear from With Teeth. This song is not a departure from what we have heard of NIN in Still and The Fragile. In addition, at the end of TLBTB is the beginning of the next tract, Beside You In Time. This cements the notion that TLBTB is a cd rip. No one has come forth claiming responsibility of the leak, which is nearly three months before official album release.
I don’t believe it is unreasonable to assume that TLBTB is an official release in response to the poor quality leak of THTF in order to reassure fans the true sound of NIN.
