Last week I stumbled across a band Shiny Toy Guns who are based out of LA and … Wow! I am really blown away by their debut album “We Are Pilots” which was three years in the making. This is a really good debut for two guys that have been refining their sound over the last few years while becoming popular on Myspace (http://myspace.com/shinytoyguns). The intense and intricate crafted sounds and dreamy vocals are a breath of fresh air to me The skill level shown on several of the songs far exceeds most of the material in my music collection. This album reminds me of “Pretty Hate Machine” due to the obviousness talent and serious musical compositions written by the main (almost solo) composer… and that the music is synth heavy, but we will skip over that :p These guys have a bright future ahead!
So…. Tara and I are gonna try to find their secret New Years party in San Francisco. I am sure it will be fun

Yes, SF is calling. We are also going to try to see Vienna Teng perform there on the 23rd. I have quite the crush on her. She is beautiful pianist and songwriter from SF who is _always_ on tour who is supporting her latest album “Dreaming Through the Noise.” Check out her website and music at http://viennateng.com/
