There was a period of time during my teenage years where I barely kept in
touch with anyone — let alone my sisters. But throughout that time, my older sister Lara
and I did talk twice a year or so. Out of everyone, during that time she was
the one I kept in touch with the most. Now, we speak three to five times a
month I guess. That has been consistent for the last several years. It’s
quite nice!
My youngest sister Jacque and I have never been close. Furthermore, we have very little in
common. About five years ago – I think – I called her several times (5x ?)
during a two or three week period to talk about stupid shit — just like her
friends call and talk about. Usually her several boyfriends/attention-givers
were over and I took part in a multi-person conversation about stupid shit.
Each transient conversation went as expected, but it failed at creating a
lasting connection. It was more or less empherical.
Anna, who is four years younger then I… well, that’s a far more complicated issue. We rarely speak. I am not
sure why. Perhaps it’s this: we were very close growing up – best friends.
Then when I was 15 or 16 years old I abandon all that was familiar and
apparently, she was (and still is?) quite hurt by that and since then has
never opened her arms to me again! yikes!
Anyway, I make money marketing websites and stuff on the internet. I do
marketing and advertising. My partner is currently a teacher and aspiring
artist. Her name is Tara Rose. I live in a suburb of Las Vegas. The entire
area outside of the Strip consists of strip malls made up of the following
retail stores: Office Max or Office Depot, Best Buy, Vons, Albertsons or
Sav-On, Barnes and Nobles or Borders, a bulk shoe outlet, a small token
fashion outlet, Petsmart or Petco, and a token Starbucks. Other then strip
malls there’s nothing but blocks and blocks of housing units. That’s pretty
much it!
So, we plan on moving back to New York for several years to spend time with
family before heading out West again :) But this time, we will be staying
clear of Las Vegas ;)
